Welcome to the home of The Sovereign Cyborg Project

EX TENEBRIS ITE. (pronounced: eks TEN-eh-bris EE-teh) is a Latin phrase meaning “go out from the darkness.”

Sometimes life gets overwhelming, and we feel a sense of extreme anxiety, even dread. How to we get to that state of peaceful tranquility? You don’t get there. YOU ARE THAT.

You’re not this mind, this ego, this body, nor the senses, nor the elements, nor their aggregate. As an organism we seem to consist of countless parts – both gross and subtle – from cells and bones to thoughts and emotions. The ego-body-mind complex (organism) is like a vehicle, and the driver or “pilot” (kybernetes in Greek) is YOU. This is what a cyborg is, a living being with interconnected systems and a locus of control.

The good news is that you are not a victim circumstance. Your nature is independent of biology, finances or even failure and success in your endeavors. Sometimes there are no answers, and that’s okay. We cause ourselves more pain by looking for answers regarding life’s problems. Life is full of problems. Two questions usually suffice. “Who am I” and “what now” ?

True freedom is abiding in the Self. In his Yoga Sutras, Patañjali defines Yoga as Yogas citta-vritti-nirodhah,” meaning yoga is the stilling (nirodhah) of the fluctuations (vrittis) of the mind (citta). Sovereignty is self-control, and that comes from knowing the difference between the Self and the not-Self. This knowledge liberates us from the bondage of ignorance due to self-identification with attributes, circumstances, time, place, thoughts and emotions.

You are more than the sum of your parts. In fact, you are limitless. You are ever-free, pure and blissful. However, due to false beliefs and previous conditioning, we subconsciously superimpose limitations on ourselves. I’m not talking about being “happy” as in an elevated mood. Frankly, that’s neither realistic nor appropriate. The blissful nature of the Self is not dependent on external objects – or even internal objects, for that matter. Life is constantly throwing things at us, and we’re all struggling in our own ways, whether it is apparent or not. Don’t deny the objective reality – we have real needs: physical, emotional, social; et cetera. The key is to maintain and awareness that YOU ARE OKAY. What happens to “you” is not you.

ॐ पूर्णमदः पूर्णमिदं पूर्णात् पूर्णमुदच्यते
पूर्णस्य पूर्णमादाय पूर्णमेवावशिष्यते
ॐ शान्तिः शान्तिः शान्तिः

oṃ pūrṇamadaḥ pūrṇamidaṃ pūrṇāt pūrṇamudacyate
pūrṇasya pūrṇamādāya pūrṇamevāvaśiṣyate
oṃ śāntiḥ śāntiḥ śāntiḥ

Purnamadah: “That” (the invisible, infinite, ultimate reality or Brahman) is complete.
Purnamidam: “This” (the visible, manifested universe) is also complete.
Purnat purnamudachyate: From that infinite completeness, this infinite completeness is born.
Purnasya purnamadaya: Even if this completeness is subtracted from that completeness.
Purnameva vashishyate: Only completeness remains.

Shanti: Peace

Om, peace, peace, peace!
